ABOUT US
About Spectra Vision Glassworks
We are a small shop located by the sea in Ventura, California.  Our 400 sq. foot space consists of workshop and showroom combined in one.  It's a magical and colorful place where all the fun and creation takes place.

Our specialty is colorful, dazzling jewelry & beautiful, spectacular mobiles made from a very special type of glass called "dichroic" for which we have become so famous to so many people in Southern California, and indeed throughout the world.

The founder of Spectra Vision Glassworks, Alisa Lou, began working in glass over 20 years ago
and formed the company in 1986.  Alisa's husband, Bobby Jackson, has been designing and
participating since 1994.

Our Commitment
We are committed to high quality in craftsmanship, uniqueness in design, vibrancy in color, and excellence in service.

About the Glass
The glass we use is called "dichroic", meaning two colors.  It is made in a vacuum chamber by evaporating several films of microthin coatings of metal onto the glass.  It simultaneously
transmits & reflects colors which are opposites on the color spectrum.  Thus the meaning of
dichroic -- two colors.

About Our Mobiles
Each of our unique mobiles is intricately handcrafted down to the smallest detail.  The best place to hang one is from the ceiling, in front of a sunny window (or other light source).  The sun, transmitting through the glass will cast the images and changing colors of the mobiles upon the walls......while at the same time, the light bouncing off the glass creates spectacular reflections which are captured by the encompassing walls, floors & ceilings.  Our beautiful mobiles are a soothing addition to any
home or workplace.  They make lovely gifts for birthdays, weddings, baby showers, or any special occasion.

About Our Jewelry
Our handcrafted dichroic jewelry can be worn for any occasion.  It is fun, lightweight, and colorful for casual, yet when worn with formal attire, it can enhance the dressiness of the occasion.

Our jewelry is made by individually hand cutting several small pieces of glass, gluing them together with Elmer's, then firing them in a kiln (the glue burns off in the firing).  Other of our jewelry is made by firing individual pieces of glass, and using those pieces as components to assemble a more free hanging style of jewelry, incorporating other materials such as sterling silver, 14K gold-filled, and glass and crystal beads.   Our lines include earrings, necklaces, bracelets, anklets, pins, tie tacks, and rings.
